North Wales has wonderful scenery and its geology helps us
to find a deeper understanding of how this scenery evolved. North
Wales is a 'classic' region of geology, rocks ranging from the
Precambrian to the Permo-Triassic can all be seen.
In the area in which I used to live, Carboniferous Limestone dominates the landscape, producing a range of small hills as well as the Great and Little Ormes which stand above the small town of Llandudno.
A field guide to the geology of the Great Orme area can be found at Field Guide to the Great Orme
I have also written a short guide to the industrial history
and geology of the Little Orme and surrounding area.
